The National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) was conferred PGS Initiated Status after earning the Silver Trailblazer Award during its public revalida on April 12, 2023.
The NCMH positions itself as a 3,500-bed National Specialty Center for Mental Health, enabling a functional network of mental health centers. The Public Revalida is a democratic process that validates the successful completion of each stage of the Performance Governance System, ISA’s innovative framework that enables organizations to achieve breakthrough results that positively impact their stakeholders while executing, monitoring, and sustaining their strategy.
During the presentation, NCMH's Medical Center Chief, Dr. Noel Reyes, highlighted the organization's plans and early successes in achieving its goals. With the enactment of two significant legislation - the Mental Health Act and the Universal Health Care Act - heralded a new era in health care in which the government, providers, communities, families, and individuals with lived experience are all becoming more involved in tackling mental health issues. Thus, NCMH must ensure that mental health is valued, protected, and promoted aside from providing interventions that are timely, of high quality, and culturally appropriate.
During his acceptance speech, Dr. Reyes recognizes the unwavering dedication of the people leading the formulation and execution of NCMH’s strategies, headed by the executive committee, the OSM, and the PGS Core Teams. Moreover, Dr. Reyes expresses his gratitude for the whole NCMH community for their commitment and willingness to embrace change and innovation.
The success of NCMH's PGS journey is truly a significant milestone; however, this is just the beginning, and rest assured that NCMH is taking every step possible to provide the Filipino people with the highest standard of mental health services.
