National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) is now officially declared a national historical landmark in the Philippines.

The official unveiling and turnover of the historical marker named “National Center for Mental Health” took place in front of the Abueva Mural, a 35-year old mural done by the National Artist Napoleon Abueva, on December 17, 2014, which coincides with the 86th year anniversary of NCMH. National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Executive Director Ludovico D. Badoy led the unveiling and formal turnover of the marker to Medical Center Chief II, Dr. Bernardino A. Vicente, and witnessed by NCMH Chief Medical Professional Staff II (Community Service) Dra. Venus Serra-Arain, Chief Medical Professional Staff II (Hospital Service) Dra. Beverly A. Azucena, and NHCP Deputy Executive Director Carminda R. Arevalo.

In his speech, Badoy recognized the significant contribution of NCMH, formerly known as the Insular Psychopatic Hospital, in not just shaping the country's mental health care and psychiatry development but also in covertly treating civilians and Filipino guerillas during World War II.
