In celebration of World Mental Health Month, the National Center for Mental Health continues its mission to promote mental health awareness and wellness in schools through its Mental Health Caravan. The latest stop was held at Quezon National High School on October 16, 2025.
The caravan aims to make mental health education more accessible to learners by teaching them the importance of maintaining good mental health, recognizing early signs of distress, and seeking professional help when needed.
The event was spearheaded by Dr. Nicole Marie Manalastas, Mr. Marvin T. Baraoidan, Mr. Jhoeward James A. Solis, and Ms. Kate C. Balbido, who discussed topics such as the importance of self-care, breaking stigma, changes and challenges during adolescence, coping strategies for stress, and creating a supportive environment.
The students actively participated in interactive lectures, engaging games, and open discussions, allowing them to learn about mental health in a fun and meaningful way. Many participants expressed that the caravan helped them better understand their emotions and encouraged them to reach out for support when needed.
This initiative was organized by the NCMH-Public Health Unit and Center for Wellness, in collaboration with the Department of Education – MIMAROPA.
